Next update the list of blocked IP Addresses, by default you find it say Blocking 0 IP's in the application.To update the IP lists click the 'List Manager' in the PeerGuardian and next select the list which you want to update and click on 'Edit' to enter the new update URL which can be copied from the IPBlockList website. You can actually - after you launch PeerGuardian you can go to its menu and 'Quit PeerGuardian'. The PG in the menubar will still be there, but the icon in the dock will not. It still runs in the background. And FWIW, it works fine for me, except when I try to use my school's network I usually have to quit the helpers.
PeerBlock, which derives from Peer Guardian, is an effective tool at blocking hackers or copyright societies from accessing your PC or communicating with you through peer-to-peer networks. Essentially, it blocks either specific IP addresses or blocks of IP addresses.
Many of the known attackers are listed on filesharing forums. You may collect blocks of IP addresses such as governments and simply add them to PeerBlock.
Unfortunately, lists of IP addresses can become outdated fast. That has a negative effect on how well PeerBlock performs. Fortunately, you can also find updated blocks of IP addresses online which can block known hackers and snoopers.

- Next Open IBlockList
- Now Open PeerGuardian and follow the Wizard and setup the application choosing what you want to block using PeerBlocker.
- Next update the list of blocked IP Addresses, by default you find it say Blocking 0 IP's in the application.To update the IP lists click the 'List Manager' in the PeerGuardian and next select the list which you want to update and click on 'Edit' to enter the new update URL which can be copied from the IPBlockList website.
- Close the 'List Manager' and Click 'Check Updates' and you should see that the Blocked IP list goes up.
